POSITION: Special Projects Coordinator 

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs & Development 

Job Type: Full Time  

Start date: June 6th, 2022 (7-month contract with possibility of extension)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC) the Special Project Coordinator is responsible for, not exclusive only to; the overall planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation and management of special events and special projects.

In collaboration with Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI), the Project Coordinator will liaise between the MCC and TWEPI to lead the new Multicultural Council Food Trail initiative.

QUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • University Degree in public relations, communications, business administration or other related field of study.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in planning and implementing projects and programming
  • 1-3 years of experience in researching, preparing proposals and grant applications for funding
  • Identified other funding opportunities through various of government, foundations, corporate or individuals
  • Good knowledge of project cycle management
  • Provided recommendations for next steps in approaching special sources of funding.
  • Working knowledge of programs and events and meeting planning for organizations with the skill to initiate, plan, organize, direct, coordinate and implement projects.
  • Strategic planning and teamwork skills a must
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies
  • Proficient in time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and work independently
  • Knowledge of marketing principles
  • Past experience working with volunteers
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel
  • Prior non-profit organization work experience considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid Level 2 police clearance, renewed every 3 years

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • Overseeing the planning, implementation and logistics of the Multicultural Council Food Trail Initiative – refer to events and programing.
  • Liaise between both the MCC & TWEPI to coordinate delivery of diversity training and organizational review.
  • Build relationships and networks with ethno-cultural associations and community leaders and identify natural allies for community partnering and networking.
  • Assist with an Advisory Committee, including Tourism Windsor Essex Manager of Destination Development & Partnership Specialist to onboard participating businesses to the digital food trail passport.
  • Collaborate with Advisory Committee to organize, facilitate, and attend regular meetings.
  • Develop with the Carousel of Nations Villages to enhance programming beyond traditional weekends of the event.
  • Develops recommendations for new events and maintains, organizes and manages existing fundraisers and special events from concept to completion ensuring they operate smoothly, efficiently and generate maximum revenue and exposure.
  • Compliance of all regulations and insurances are up to date as part of risk management.
  • In tandem with TWEPI, develop and execute outreach strategies and identify natural allies for community partnering.
  • Collaborate with TWEPI on budgeting preparation, planning, organizing, and completion of the project.
  • Foster current partnerships with various organizations, building lasting, win-win agreements
  • Work closely with department staff to develop promotional goals for the project.
  • Attend community meetings as required to ensure MCC & TWEPI visibilities
  • Prepare all required reports/minutes as related to the project
