POSITION: Employment and Training Program Coordinator
Position Summary: Oversee employment and training program at the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County. Includes cultural competency programs and workshop sessions to battle racism within the community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (Employment, Education, Public Relations, Social Services) and/or related job experience
- Experience in job/career development and assessment
- Knowledge of local labour market trends and employment opportunities in the Windsor and Essex County region
- Knowledge of the local community’s resources and services including services provided in the Employment field
- Experience in workshops and curriculum development and facilitation
- Considerable knowledge and experience with issues related to diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Experience in overseeing budgets
- Administrative, planning, facilitation, written, and oral communication skills are essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power Point
- Must provide a recent and valid Vulnerable Sector Check PC
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Position Responsibilities:
– Assess the community’s needs in order to develop and facilitate a program to meet these needs in the area of employment
– Develop and facilitate cultural competency workshops and diversity training workshops throughout the year
– Establish networks with potential employers and industries within the community to identify employment trends and employment opportunities
– Attend career fairs and employer networking events in Windsor and Essex County to promote the program in the community
– Liaise effectively with other community organizations, institutions, and employers to leverage resources through partnerships in order to enhance capacities in meeting client needs
– Conduct outreach with prospective employers to attain information in regards to job opportunities, job placements and supports for clients
– Deliver presentations to various organizations, employers, and agencies in order to recruit participants for the program
– Develop recruitment strategies to ensure that participant targets are met
– Develop curriculum and curriculum materials
– Evaluate participant progress and maintain participant records indicating level of participant knowledge base in accordance with the curriculum
– Conduct participant intake and assessments to determine skills, interests, employment history and career goals. This may include pre-employment assessments and needs assessments to identify barriers
– Assess need for assistance from additional support services or systems and make referrals to appropriate MCC or Windsor-Essex County community services as per client need
– Identify employers who match the participant’s interests and abilities
– Assist participants with such matters as job related readiness skills, job search strategies, and interview skills
– Introduce participants and employers to assist them in creating a successful partnership
– Develop strategies to integrate the individual into the workforce, including integration in the workplace team and culture
– Provide follow-up to individuals and their employers and, where required, identify and address the need for modifications and/or accommodations at the worksite
– Ensures that program standards and guidelines are maintained
– Monitor day-to-day program budget, expenditures, and use of resources
– Provide reports as required by immediate supervisor and the funder
– Perform other related duties as required
