JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                 Instructor

REPORTS TO:           Manager of Employment & Training Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County, the Instructor/Facilitator is responsible for providing job specific language instruction that is common in the construction, agriculture, manufacturing and warehousing industries to participants to ensure that each participant leaves the program fully prepared to participate in opportunities available in today’s labour market.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • TESL Ontario certified instructor and/or Certified Teacher in Ontario
  • Experience in workshop and curriculum development and facilitation
  • Considerable knowledge and experience with issues related to diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be flexible to demanding and changing timelines.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and legislative requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must.
  • Experience in the construction, agricultural, manufacturing and/or warehousing

industry an asset. Experience in job/career development and assessment

  • Strong understanding of employment law and legislative requirements.
  • Administrative, planning, facilitation, written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Must possess a valid Level 3 vulnerable sector police clearance, renewed every 3 years

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with potential participants to ensure that eligibility criteria and paperwork is complete before beginning the program.
  • Develop curriculum and curriculum materials, recruitment strategies and marketing materials.
  • Assist in recruitment of participants.
  • Deliver job specific language training sessions to participants, instructing in the areas of construction, agriculture, manufacturing and warehousing.
  • Evaluate student progress on a daily bases and maintain student records indicating level of progress and participant knowledge base in accordance with the curriculum.
  • Create and provide weekly progress reports for in class component outlining student progress.
  • Ensure full participation in program by documenting attendance, test and presentation results, etc.
  • Provide individualized and one on one counseling to ensure that participants fully understand materials given and/or discussed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CONTRACT DURATION:

38 Weeks @ 20 hours per week
