POSITION SUMMARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County (MCC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Career Counselor to join our team. The Career Counselor will play a crucial role in assisting our clients in identifying career goals, exploring career options, developing job search strategies, and accessing relevant training and education opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment counseling, possess excellent communication and networking skills, a deep understanding of local labor markets, and a deep commitment to helping individuals achieve their professional aspirations.<\/p>\n

POSITION SUMMARY DETAILS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

• Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions with clients to assess their skills, interests, and goals.<\/li>\n
• Provide guidance and support in resume writing, cover letter preparation, and job application strategies.<\/li>\n
• Offer assistance in developing and refining job search techniques, including online job search, networking, and utilizing community resources.<\/li>\n
• Facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics such as interview skills, job market trends, and career planning.<\/li>\n
• Collaborate with other staff members to connect clients with relevant training programs, educational institutions, and employment opportunities.<\/li>\n
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, and program documentation.<\/li>\n
• Identify and cultivate relationships with employers to develop job opportunities for job seekers.<\/li>\n
• Collaborate with employers to understand their hiring needs and requirements.<\/li>\n
• Match job seekers with suitable employment opportunities based on skills, experience, and preferences.<\/li>\n
• Provide job seekers with guidance and support in preparing for interviews, writing resumes, and developing job search strategies.<\/li>\n
• Conduct job readiness workshops and training sessions to equip job seekers with the necessary skills for employment.<\/li>\n
• Stay informed about local labor market trends, industry demands, and emerging job opportunities.<\/li>\n
• Maintain accurate records of job placements, employer contacts, and job seeker progress.<\/li>\n
• Act as a liaison between job seekers and employers to facilitate smooth communication and address any concerns or issues.<\/li>\n
• Collaborate with other members of the team to coordinate job placement efforts and achieve program goals.<\/li>\n
• Stay updated on relevant policies, regulations, and resources related to employment services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, counseling, social work, or a related field (preferred).<\/li>\n
  • Proven experience in job development, recruitment, or related fields.<\/li>\n
  • Strong understanding of local labor market trends and employment practices.<\/li>\n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with employers and job seekers.<\/li>\n
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.<\/li>\n
  • Proficiency in using computer applications such as MS Office and job search databases.<\/li>\n
  • Knowledge of career development theories and techniques.<\/li>\n
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.<\/li>\n
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing job market dynamics and client needs.<\/li>\n

  • Experience working with diverse populations<\/li>\n
