Twenty-two years ago the MCC spearheaded the creation of a community-wide celebration to recognize the contribution of the Rt. Honourable Herb Gray.<\/p>\n

On October 23, 2002 a formal evening of appreciation was held, and the program included the presentation of the very first Herb Gray Harmony Award.<\/p>\n

This prestigious honour recognizes individuals, businesses, or organizations in our community who have actively promoted the equality of all cultures and who have made an outstanding contribution to building a more welcoming community for all.<\/p>\n

In 2008 the growth of the MCC Awards Gala lead to the introduction of a Champion Award, celebrating the significant contributions made to our community by first-generation Canadians.<\/p>\n

In 2018 an Inspire Award was introduced as a way to recognize a newcomer for their perseverance, optimism, and positive example in our community. This award has been named after long time MCC Executive Director Kathleen Thomas, who’s dedication and commitment to making Windsor-Essex a more welcoming place for all people is unparalleled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The MCC Awards Gala takes place each May and features a different and exciting theme, drawing a large crowd of community partners, supporters, and representatives to recognize award recipients.\u00a0Proceeds from this event benefit the programs and services of the MCC.<\/span><\/p>\n
