PROGRAM: MCC Resettlement Assistance Program (MCC RAP)
POSITION: Case Manager (NAARS and Orientation)
REPORTS TO: NAARS and Orientation Coordinator
Job Type: Full Time (40 hours/week)
Salary : $31.04 per/hour + benefits

POSITION SUMMARY:
In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC) the Case Manager will be responsible for the provision of ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of client needs within the MCC Resettlement Assistance Program for Newcomers to Canada as funded by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma and/or Degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work or equivalent and a minimum three years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with issues related to diverse populations, including immigrants and refugees
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the area agencies serving immigrants, their programs and services, current immigration issues and resources available in the community
  • Experience with case management and coordination including but not limited to: handling case assignments, drafting settlement plans, reviewing progress and determining closure
  • Coordinating and providing care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client centric
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing strong and effective partnerships with community groups, service providers and other key stakeholders to develop responses to community issues and build on community strengths and resources
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and presentation skills, including workshop planning, delivery and evaluation
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills are essential
  • Administrative, planning, facilitation, written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Strong digital and computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must
  • Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid Driver’s License is required
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • Must possess a valid vulnerable sector police clearance, renewed every 3 years

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Conducts Needs and Assets Assessments with newly arrived GARs
  • Provides orientation sessions to inform clients about Canadian culture, rights, and responsibilities, as well as federal and provincial programs such as SIN, OHIP, CCB, and more.
  • Facilitates referrals and access to available resources in the community, including government programs and educational institutions
  • If required, facilitates the referral process to other community organizations, coordinates the access to services: enhances a collaborative relationship with other service providers to facilitate the client access to services in the community, develops networks, fosters relationships
  • Coordinate the access to program services based on needs assessment, working with other MCC RAP staff, promoting effective and efficient utilization of the organization’s resources, such as utilizing language aids/interpreters/volunteers as necessary, links with other staff and other MCC Programs as necessary
  • Works collaboratively across teams to address clients’ needs including facilitating inter-program client care conferences to review client’s settlement and integration process
  • Enhances a relationship of trust with the client/family to maximize their ability to make informed decisions and achieve both short-term and long-term goals
  • Provide information, orientation on one-to-one basis or in group sessions as required
  • Addresses clients’ needs as they arise
  • Provide life skills/enhanced orientation as needed
  • Conducts continuous assessment and monitoring of the client’s settlement process and the achievements of goals
  • Evaluate client’s satisfaction and quality of service provided
  • Maintain clients’ files and program statistics; maintain and record services delivered to clients; document all calls and client visits; prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to the supervisor as required
  • Prepares and submits monthly report and/or other reports as required
  • Keep the immediate supervisor up to date with all issues and concerns with the program, and informed of all program activities
  • Participate in regular program, team and organization meetings as required
  • Attend community meetings as required
  • Attend professional development opportunities as required
